Live from Bergen in Norway.
It's always fascinating seeing places that you don't know. I was so taken with Bergen having watched this race that we're seriously looking into a trip to Norway including Bergen.
Now I don't mind a bit of cycling, but often it is just a little predictable. Cyclist goes on a breakaway, the pelaton gradually rein them in and it is left to the sprinters to thrash it out at the end.
So this race came as a pleasant surprise. After a couple of early failed breaks, Elena Pirrone went clear.
A lead was built up that fluctuated but stayed around the 40 second mark. From about 40 KM to the finish, the chasing pack that consisted of about a dozen riders tried to chase her down. On several occasions the lead came down to 17 - 20 seconds but never got lower. Pirrone then stretched her lead again and it would go out to about 30 seconds until the pack tried again.
With about 10 KM to go, it became apparent that the excellent time trialist Pirrone was going to stay clear and there was a battle for the minor places.
In damp and drizzly conditions, this was an excellent performance and an exciting cycle race, so different from anything I've seen before. The joy of youth sports!
Second place was taken by Emma Jorgennsen from Denmark and a shout out to British riders Pfeiffer Georgi and Sophie Wright
who stayed in the chasing pack the whole way and put in strong performances.
